Welcome to Darren and Carina's wedding!

The location of the wedding ceremony: City Hall

Picture
City Hall was built between 1911 and 1923.  The City Hall has guided tours, and is well worth a visit.

The Golden Hall

Picture
The Golden Hall, inside City Hall, has 18,6 million gold plated bricks on the walls. The golden bricks form pictures of the Swedish history.

The Blue Hall

Picture
This is the Blue Hall. It was intended to have blue walls, but the architect realized that the blue color would be too dark, so eventually the bricks were left as walls. The Blue Hall is still called blue, despite it's red walls.

This is a view of the City Hall park on the water side of the City hall. This is where we will greet all of you after having been married inside City Hall.

The Old Town

Picture
The Old town at night. The Old Town is a must to visit while in Stockholm. As the name suggests, it is the oldest part of Stockholm, and the Old Town of Stockholm was first founded during the 1200 century. As most (all?) cities at that time, Stockholm was surrounded by city walls. Part of this original wall can be viewed at Stockholm city museum. The houses were most likely originally built in wood, but during the latter part of the middle ages, and as the town grew, houses were built in brick. Many (most?) of the houses in the old town today dates back to this era.

Mårten Trotzig gränd

Picture
Mårten Trozig gränd. The narrowest street in the old town. Even I (Carina) can reach from one wall to the other. Imagine this street in the middle ages, when house hold waste was thrown from the windows and onto the street. Luckily that is a very unusual behaviour these days.

Old Town buildings

Buildings and architecture of the Old Town. The colorful exterior is not a new invention, but was typical even back in the day.

The Castle

The King and his family actually used to live here, but they moved to a castle outside of Stockholm city center in the 1970s.
